Andrey Losev

Head of the Quantum Theory Laboratory Institute years: 1942-1953 1900 Born on July 3rd in Moscow. 1923 Receives a diploma in theoretical physics. Goes to graduate school. Research interest: quantum theory and mathematics. 1926 Defends his doctoral dissertation. Research fellow at the Lebedev Institute. 1927 Studies at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen. Holds senior scientific positions at the Lebedev Institute. 1932 Research assistant at Yale University. 1942 Sent to the Institute as head of the Quantum Theory Laboratory. 1953 Leaves the Institute with his wife D.A. Berzhitskaya, a junior researcher in the Biochemistry Laboratory. Awards and honours: Order of Lenin. Order of the Red Banner of Labour Stalin Prize. Author of more than 60 articles and research papers. Participated in many scientific conferences and seminars in the USSR and abroad (including Princeton, Harvard, Paris, Cambridge and Kyoto).
