Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz

Rabbi Institute years: 1966 1892 Born in Jerusalem. Translator of the Talmud to Hebrew, English, Russian and Spanish. 1960 Opened an experimental school in Beersheba, elaborated teaching programmes and methodologies. 1965 Founded the Israel Institute of Talmudic Publications specialised in translating the Talmud from Aramic to modern Hebrew and in studying the sacred text. 1966 In August, came to the Institute to participate in a religious symposium. Awards and honours Honorary Professor in a number of universities in the USA and Israel. Author of more than 60 books and articles on Judaism, science, art, philosophy and mysticism. State Israel Prize (1953).
